Ao Sul do Mundo (ASM) is L.U.M.E.’s booking agency, working since 2013 in the worldwide music scene, presenting artists that reflect cultural diversity and its refinements within particularly creative musical trends. Working with L.U.M.E. since its foundation, ASM partners up with L.U.M.E.’s cultural association that develops the ensemble’s management and projects.

L.U.M.E. (Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble) by Marco Barroso is a 15 piece ensemble that dramatises, often ironically, the practices of jazz, rock and classical music, with incursions into experimentalism. It transforms the big bands’ patrimony by breaking free of conventionality and adding new aesthetic perspectives – a broad kaleidoscope in a permanent “what if?”

Since 2010, L.U.M.E. released three albums in four editions – L.U.M.E. (2010, JACC Records; 2013 Challenge Records), and Xabregas 10 (2016) and Las Californias (2021, with the support of GDA Foundation and Antena 2 radio), both on Clean Feed – and performed all over Portugal and in Europe, with the highlights: Festa do Jazz (2011 and 2016, PT), Jazz em Agosto (2014, Gulbenkian Foundation, PT); Outono em Jazz (2014 and 2021, Casa da Música, PT); moers festival (DE) and Guimarães Jazz (PT) in 2016, Ljubljana Int. Jazz Festival (2018, SI); Seixal Jazz (2011 and 2021, PT); Festival Jazz Ao Centro and CCB (2021, Coimbra and Lisbon, PT), and showcased at European Jazz Conference (2018) and jazzahead! (2019).

In late 2021 the Las Californias tour included the Skopje (MK), Vilnius (LT) and EFG London (UK) Jazz Festivals. It will continue in 2022 in Jazz Sous Les Pommiers (FR), NovaraJazz Festival (IT), Bosnia-Herzegovina, among others, to be announced.
